Not content with celebrating the usual holidays, Mrs. Muddle invents her own. In this assembly, I discuss holidays with the children--
both real holidays, and the ones I created for my book. This serves as a springboard for a group writing project in which we work together to invent another holiday that we would like to celebrate.
The students are given a follow up assignment to illustrate and/or write about their own special holiday back in their classrooms.
This assembly is suitable for grades K-3. It is most successful with one grade level at a time, 3-4 classes at a time, up to about 100 children, and runs 45-55 minutes depending on age and participation.
